Leadership

Harry Taylor, Tommy’s father, founded Amo Construction when Tommy was a child. Tommy always saw himself taking over the operation, so he started working for his father at twelve sweeping the floors of new homes. He got his first paid work at fifteen, and was superintendent at twenty-two. Though Amo was dissolved in the late seventies, Tommy continued working his way up in other construction opportunities. The Great Recession hit the construction industry hard, and Tommy had to work harder than ever to stay in the game, but this paid off when he was ready and able to revive Amo in 2014 with his cousin, the late Chuck Taylor.

Tommy strives to lead the company with the same principles his father exemplified. If your word isn’t good, then neither is your business, and his handshake is as honest as a contract. He is as hands-on as they come in the construction business because accessibility is a key factor in Amo’s success. Tommy believes that those who make the decisions should be plugged into the project from start to finish.

Tommy and Jonda, his wife, have two sons, TJ and Jake, and you can often find them at one of their football games. TJ is the center at Loganville High, and Jake is following in his brother’s footsteps. Tommy is also a lifelong guitarist, having played at countless live events and venues.

Peter has worked in just about every aspect of the construction industry. He grew up working with his father in the hardware business—then started from the bottom working on construction projects in high school and college—after completing a Bachelor’s in Business Management, he moved into construction equipment sales—and in 2008 he began working with Tommy as a superintendent. After a few years as project manager at Amo, he became co-owner with Tommy in 2019.

Peter believes in leading from the front. He is willing to do and has done everything his employees do, and strives to empower them to rise in the industry as he has. This comes from teaching others how to provide the best quality construction, and that fostering quality relationships is the best method for personal and professional growth.

Peter and his wife, Michelle, have three children. Hayla is an RN residing in Tennessee, and their two sons, John and Patrick attend Buford High. As a hobby, you can find Peter breaking course records, well on his way to winning his first Masters.

“Great people make great companies.  It is important to me that every employee at Amo Construction knows that they are empowered to make us better.  Whether its safety, craftsmanship, or customer satisfaction, our team members are the reason we excel”–Peter
